William Eugene Powell, Jr., 72, of Effingham, SC passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Mr. Powell was born in Florence, SC a son of the late William Eugene Powell, Sr. and Velva Jeannine Montrose Powell. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and had been a steel fabricator.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Velva Jean Powell and Pamela Renee Powell.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Meadows Powell; children, David (Katie) Royall, Sr., Amanda Lee (Danny) Altman, William Jason Powell, and Jennifer Denise Powell; grandchildren, Jensen, Nicholas, Dakota, Krestian, Tatum, Dayton, and Haley; great-grandchild, Dawsii; and special extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
