A funeral service for William Thomas McGee, will be at 11:00AM, Monday, October 13, 2008, in St. Paul Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Dane Moorehead. The committal will follow at Mossy Grove Cemetery. Family members will receive friends Monday, October 13 at 10:00AM at St. Paul Methodist Church. The family suggests memorials to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC 29501. Mr. McGee, 90, of Florence, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, in Carolinas Hospital System. He was born June 15, 1918, in Florence, SC, to the late John William Jesse and Mary Jane Mullis McGee. He was predeceased by three wives, Lyra Floyd McGee, Lola Smith McGee, and Edna Thompson McGee. He was also predeceased by brothers, James Wallace McGee, Henry S. McGee, Harry J. McGee, J. Perry McGee, and Jesse A. McGee; and a sister, Addie Mae McGee Long. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Florence where he taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. He was a retired circulation manager with the Florence Morning News and was active with the Gideons. Among his survivors are: sons, Phillip McGee of Maine and Thomas "Tommy" McGee, Jr. of Illinois; daughter, Dana McGee McFarlane of Oregon; nephew, Jesse McGee of Monroe, NC; brothers, Charlie McGee of Whittier, CA and Martin McGee of Monroe, NC; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
