Florence, SC William C. "Billy" Hathcock, 79, of Florence, SC, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late Robert Lee Hathcock, Sr. and Margaret Rogers Hathcock. He attended St. Johns HS in Darlington, SC, Trenton State College in New Jersey, and the University of Maryland. He retired from the US Air Force and lived in Florence for the past thirty years. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the DAV. Mr. Hathcock was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Mr. Hathcock is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Ruth Hathcock; and a brother, Robert Lee Hathcock, Jr. Mr. Hathcock is survived by his wife, Nancy Murphy Hathcock of Florence, SC; one son, William Mark Hathcock of Florence, SC; one daughter, Marita Hathcock (Steven) Anderson of Florence, SC; one granddaughter, Katie Anderson Mansukhani; two grandsons, Andrew Anderson and Nicholas Anderson; two sisters, Louise Knight and Caroline Mills; one brother, Roger (Patricia) Hathcock; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 11, 2013, 6 - 8:00 PM at Cain Funeral Home with the wake service at 7:30 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery with full military honors, directed by Cain Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living, especially Leslie, for their excellent care and support and also the staff at McLeod Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for their kindness.
