Don Jones, 75, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018, at Agape Hospice at Carolinas Hospital. He was the son of William H. Jones and Rose Lodise Jones. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Don graduated from Northeast High School. He then entered the Unites States Marine Corps, following the tradition of his father and grandfather. He received an Honorable Discharge after serving in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Guam and Vietnam. After returning home, he attended Lincoln Preparatory College in Philadelphia and Camden County Community College in New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, Don played softball on the Sunday Night Men's League and was President and team Manager of the Barrington Girls Softball League. After moving to Florence in 1980, he continued to play softball in the Florence Industrial League for the ABB team. He retired from ABB and ESAB. Don was a past Commandant of the Marine Corps League Department of South Carolina and past Commandant of the Marine Corps League, Julian Dusenbury Detachment #410, in Florence, where he was awarded Detachment Marine of the Year; past Pound Keeper of the Military Order of Devil Dogs Pound #246; 30 year member of the American Legion Post #1020; and past Commander of the Pee Dee Area Veterans Advisory Council. Don was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a granddaughter, Cassidy R. Jones-French. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judy Jones; daughters, Jacqueline (Mike) Feimster and Kelly (Greg) French; son, Norman D. (Felecia) Jones; grandchildren, Sydney and Jordan Jones, Jay Inman, Jack Feimster, Edisto French; step-grandsons, Ryan and Charlie Cox; great-granddaughter, Jayden Jones; his twin sister, Rosemary (David) Dawalt; and his cats, Raider and Chesty. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Cain-Calcutt Funeral Home with visitation following until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial, with military honors, following in the Florence National Cemetery.
