Obituary

William D. "Bill" Wood Jr., 72, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Mr. Wood was born in Pittsburgh, PA and was the son of the late William Donald Wood Sr. and the late Rita T. Drogoski Wood.  Mr. Wood was a graduate of Serra Catholic High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University where he was a member of the wrestling team and Delta Chi Fraternity. He later attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Master's Degree in Geology. Mr. Wood worked as a Geologist for Carolina Technical Services Inc. until his death.

Surviving Mr. Wood are his sisters, Karen (Charles) Mesirow of Redwood City, CA, Anita (Paul) Regan of Boulder Creek, CA, and his brother Brian (Stacy) Wood of Jefferson Hills PA, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and goddaughter. Previous wife, Leslie Wood, and stepdaughter, Jamie (Matthew) Werling of Florence SC.

Mr. Wood was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the Penn State Wrestling Boosters Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and researching his family's ancestry.

Memorial services to be held in Florence SC are being organized for a later date. Mr. Wood will be interned near his parents in Pleasant Hills, PA at a later date.
