Willa Moore Owens Watkins, 95, of Florence, S.C., died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born in the historic Browntown community of Williamsburg county, a daughter of the late Warren Lamar and Sarah Eulee Moore. She spent her childhood on the Moore farm being a true tomboy, chasing rabbits, dipping tadpoles, and climbing the large oak trees on the farm. She was a 1936 graduate of Indiantown High School, where she was a senior guard on the state championship basketball team. She loved to crochet, knit, and paint. While living in Kingstree, she was employed at the Kingstree public school system before returning to Florence in 1957. She retired from WBTW-TV in 1975. Willa is predeceased by two husbands, James Woodrow Owens and Willie Ray Watkins. She is survived by one son, James Watson "Jim" Owens (Lorianne) of Nashville, TN; one step-son, James McKinley "Jimmy" Watkins (Lucy) of Florence, S.C.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A devout Jehovah's Witness, sister Watkins is looking forward to being resurrected to live on the coming earthly paradise that Jehovah has promised. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses on Third Loop Road. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060
