A funeral service for W. B. "Bill" Winchester, widower of Elizabeth G. Winchester, will be at 10:00AM Tuesday July 20, 2010 in Cain Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Brian Howard. Interment with military honors in Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Monday July 19 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Effingham Presbyterian Church 816 E. Effingham Highway Effingham, SC 29541. Mr. Winchester, 82, died July 17, 2010, in a local hospital. He was born, June 21, 1928 in Florence County, SC, to the late Willie E. and Crystal Allen Winchester. Mr. Winchester retired in 1985 from CSX Railroad as Regional Store House Manager. He was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church, a Mason and a Shriner. He served in the US Air Force during WWI and Korean Conflict. He was active in the horse industry as a trainer, judge and auctioneer. He was a mentor, coach and advisor to horse lovers all over the southeast. Surviving are: son, Billy (Donna) Winchester of Florence; daughter, Susan (Eric) Laessig of Elizabeth, CO; grandchildren, Andi Graham, Brooke Laessig and Megan Winchester.
