William "Dan" Smith, 80, died Saturday, November 26, 2011, at home after an illness. Mr. Smith was a son of the late Durwood and Minnie Bell Smith. Mr. Smith served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Smurfitt-Stone. He had a passion for building houses. He enjoyed his family, working in the yard and in the garden. Mr. Smith was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother, Durwood W. Smith and his son, "Paul" H. Smith. Left to cherish his memory are Pauline, his wife for over fifty years; two daughters, Kathy (Speedy) Blackburn and Rochelle Smith; four grandchildren, Tonya Waggoner, Danielle Little, Brittany (Bradley) Moore and Corey Stephens; four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Kaidyn Waggoner, Chandler and Brysen Byrd; a sister, Agnes (Alex) Wise and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was a devoted member of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" for many years and served in many callings. Visitation will be held at Cain Funeral Home on Monday, November 28, 2011, from 6 - 8 PM. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the LDS Church on Damon Drive at 2:00 PM with burial in Society Hill.
