Valerie Garner Carraway, 73, of Pamplico, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 10, 2023.  She was born in Walterboro, SC, a daughter of the late David Garner and Evelyn Welch Steele.  She is also predeceased by siblings, Billy Garner, Marie Miles, Betty Ann Yarborough, Roy Garner and Linda Faye Sauls; and a granddaughter, Angel Martin.

Valerie was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she kept the nursery for many years.  She was a secretary and accountant for Wendy's in Florence.  Valerie loved her family, especially her grandchildren, flowers and taking care of her home and her family.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Bryant Dexter Carraway; her children, Renee Carraway Walsh and Tabitha Carraway Martin (Tim); grandchildren, Bryant Martin, Bryce Martin and Brylee Martin; a brother, Andie Lee; step-brothers, Tommy Steele and Bobby Steele; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Evergreen Baptist Church.  Entombment will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
