Timothy Charles Carroll

Timothy Charles Carroll, 82, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026. He was born in Cleveland, OH, and was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie Carroll.

Mr. Carroll enjoyed a lengthy career in procurement and construction contract management, retiring from Wellman, Inc. in Darlington, SC. He also served in two volunteer roles, first asa volunteer EMT in Waxhaw, NC and more recently as a cardiac rehabilitation assistant at McLeod Hospital. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

As a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Tim was a devoted Tar Hill fan who especially loved basketball. As empty nesters, he and Jo Ellen embraced their shared love of music and dancing, joining the Florence Shag Club and spending many years attending events across the state. He also found great joy in gardening and working in his shop, but his greatest love was his “girls,” the many Labrador retrievers he spoiled over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Fatih Carroll and Sharleen Kindley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jo Ellen Swain Carroll; a daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Carroll (David) Anderson of Florence, SC; two sons, Joel Andrew Carroll and Nathan Patrick (Robin) Carroll both of Columbia, SC; a grandson, Joshua Bryan Anderson of Florence, SC and a sister, Nancy Carroll Wood of Asheboro, NC.

The family will hold a private service, after which he will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum of Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, NC - the place he considered home. The family is being assisted locally by Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home, with Pugh Funeral Home assisting in NC.
