Florence, SC Thomas Joseph Handley, 58, of Florence, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Florence, SC after an extended illness. He was born March 31, 1954 in Newburgh, NY to Anne M. O'Donnell Handley and the late James J. Handley. He graduated Warren Hills High School, in Washington N in 1972. While attending Warren Hills he played Varsity Baseball and was a member of the Chess team. He went on to coach little league baseball in Washington NJ and he was a loyal NY Yankees fan. Tom managed several travel plazas along the east coast. He was General Manager at the Petro/Flying J until his retirement in 2010. Tom has a sense of humor and generosity that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Thomas attended St. Ann's Catholic Church in Florence, SC. He was preceded in death by father, James J. Handley, daughter, Jennifer L. Handley and a brother, Daniel Handley. Those surviving Tom are his wife - Teresa "Terri" J. Handley of Florence, SC; sons - Thomas C. Handley of Darlington, SC, Bryan S. Handley of Easton, PA, L.Cpl. Kevin M. Sauls of Camp Lejeune, NC and Jacob R. Handley of Florence, SC; grandchild - Francesca Handley; brothers - James (Judy) Handley of Ringwood, NJ and John (Bobbie Jo) Handley of Reading, PA; sisters - Carol Richline of Nazareth, PA and Theresa (Steven) Malanga of Washington, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday September 28, 2012 from 2:00-6:00 pm at 977 Declaration Dr. Florence, SC 29501 and a family only memorial will held in Nazareth Pa, October 13, 2012 Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina 110 Dillon Drive Spartanburg, SC 29307
