Terrell "Terry" Cleveland Matthews, 75, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  He was born in Florence, the son of the late Odie C. Matthews, Jr. and the late Mary Keefe Stumpf.  In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister, Marilyn M. Godwin (Ray).

Terry served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era.  He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence and was in the Auditorium Bible Class.  He graduated from Southside High School, Class of 1968 and retired from SC Industries - West Rock.  He enjoyed traveling, music of all kinds and really loved giving.  He had the biggest heart and sense of humor.  One of his favorite pass-times was shopping for antiques.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Edmund Matthews; two nieces, Amy G. Tinsley and Amelia G. Kelly (Kyle); nephew, Mark Godwin (Chad Bulloch); a number of other extended family and friends; and his fur baby, "Abigail"

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 in the Cain Calcutt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home just prior to the service.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Bayada Home Health, SC-House Calls, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Miranda and all of the nurses and caregivers that cared for Terry, especially Kristin, Krystal, Brittany and Tabitha.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, Gentiva Hospice or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
