Obituary

A funeral service for Tallulah Kennedy Cox Parnell, wife of William A. "Bill" Parnell, Sr., will be at 2:00PM, Sunday, August 31, 2008, in the Cain Funeral Home Chapel with Doris Suggs officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P. O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502-0552. www.mcleodfoundation.org Mrs. Parnell, 88, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at her residence. She was born August 8, 1920, in Florence, to the late Alfred Louis and Mary Ellen Bailey Kennedy. She was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Johnnie Cox Taylor and beloved son-in-law, Jim Taylor; sisters, Mae Kennedy, Susie Gandy, Rethea Beasley and Hazel Pirkle; and brothers, Roland Kennedy and Chester A. Kennedy. She was a welder at the shipyard in Charleston prior to WWII. Mrs. Parnell worked briefly for A&P Food Stores and Fludd's Tackle Shop and retired from Dixie Cup after many years of service. Among her survivors, in addition to her husband, are: daughters, Debra (Eddie) Cox Gleaton of Summerton, SC and Kay (Jerry) Cox Hatcher of Florence; grandchildren, Alan (Regan) Taylor and Scott (Kelly) Taylor, both of Elgin, Reid Wiggins of Florence, Brandon (Jennifer) Wiggins of Columbia, Melissa Anderson of Orange Park, FL and Natali (Mitchell) Driggers of Lake City; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Itolene Carter of Florence and Marian Oglesby of Aiken four step-children, Rocky (Belinda) Parnell of Florence, Connie (Jim) Cox of Gulf Breeze, FL, Brenda Johnson of Columbia and Jimmy Parnell of Hartsville; and five step-grandchildren.
