Sue Carol Thigpen Kairis, 64, of Florence, S.C., died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Florence, S.C., a daughter of Richard Murray Thigpen, Sr. and the late Sybil Lillian Thigpen. She is predeceased by her mother, her step-mother Leony F. Thigpen and a brother, Clarence S. Matthews. She is survived by her father, two sons, Lance Kairis of Florence, S.C.; Richard Joseph Kairis and wife Katherine of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Victoria Walker and husband Lew of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, William B. Thigpen and wife Cheryl of Columbia, S.C.; Richard Murray Thigpen, Jr. of Pageland, S.C.; two grandchildren, Ethan Joseph Kairis and Christian Kyle Kairis; sister-in-law, Barbara A. Matthews of St. Stephen, S.C. and a close family friend, Elaine Anderson. Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Central United Methodist Church.
