Stephen Deaver, 73, of Florence, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Mr. Deaver was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, a son of the late Derwood Deaver and Evelyn Weatherly Hutchinson. He was a graduate of McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC and attended Francis Marion College, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple for 35 years where he was head usher, a member of the Booster Club and was the clock manager and statistician for Florence Chirstian School. Stephen was a supervisor for DuPont before his retirement and was a member of the Florence Recreation Commission, having been an official for Baseball and Basketball, and was a member of the Flintville Masonic Lodge. He loved watching his kids do what they love and was a SC Gamecocks fan. Stephen was very strong in his faith even through fighting cancer he witnessed to others every single day. He was a man of integrity, enjoyed giving to others, and loved cooking for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Christopher “Chris” Deaver; his twin brother, Alan Deaver; and sisters, Rebecca Flowers, Diane Byrd, and Wanda Bell Perkins.

Surviving are his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Bellamy Deaver; son, Seth M. Deaver (Breanna); daughter, Sara E. Pierson (Andrew); grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Deaver, Mayer Deaver, Lennon Deaver, Olivet Deaver, and Leah Pierson; sister, Connie Fike; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Temple or to the Florence Christian School, 2308 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Florence Baptist Temple with burial to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
