Obituary

Shirley Parker

November 3, 1941 – February 14, 2026

Born in Darlington, SC, a daughter of the late DeWitt Talmadge and Annie Bell Stratton Frazier. Ms. Shirley lived a long life and enjoyed walking, fishing, jotting down stuff on paper and flowers, in which she had a green thumb. She loved the outside and working in it. She loved to catch a fender every chance she got and adored animals, especially her dogs and cats. Her children have wonderful memories of her outside playing games in the yard with them when they were young and yes even mud pies with the girls. Ms. Shirley was an awesome mother, but don’t let her dark auburn-red hair fool you. She had no siblings growing up, but she speaks highly of an uncle, “Paul Frazier” that was involved in her life that took her fishing, stuff that a father and daughter did. Her father got wounded in the war, which made things harder for him to be included in her life when he returned home.

The family would like to send out many thanks to every care team at McLeod Hospice in Florence, SC for the special care Ms. Shirley received throughout her end-of-life journey to keep her comfortable. They would also like to thank the Wilson Senior Care (Medford) in Darlington, SC for the care of Ms. Shirley this past year.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Parker and a grandson, William Christopher Cox-Parker and sons-in-law Edward Henry Morris and Lonnie “Mitchell” Johnson.

Surviving are two sons, Allen (Shelby) Frazier and Rudolph Lorey (Tanya) Parker, Jr.; two daughters, “Tiny” Lula (Randy) Barino and Erica Morris; grandchildren, Marilyn Frazier, Emma Frazier, Mia Frazier, Bree Frazier, Emanuel (Kristin) Harper, Amanda Johnson, Lonnie “Mitchell” Johnson, Jr., Jonathan Parker (Alexis Nicole Colston), Lorie (Michael) Evans, Harley Cox-Parker, Kara Parker, Brantly Parker, James Parker and Krista Bill; great-grandchildren, Ally Harper, Jensen Alan Wayne DeClue, Ember Renae Rose Parker, Charles “Charlie” Evans, Harley Asher and Richard; many loved nieces and nephews and a special niece, Felisa Lynch.

“He Only Takes the Best”

God saw she was getting tired

and a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around her

and whispered, “Come with Me”

With teared filled eyes we watched her

suffer and fade away.

Although we loved her deeply,

we could not make her stay.

A golden heart stopped beating

hard-working hands put to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the Best. –Author Unknown

As I think of my mom leaving us on Valentine’s Day:

Love isn’t found on February 14th. It’s actually found in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

What a reward for everlasting life on Valentine’s Day for Ms. Shirley!

A service may be announced at a later date.
