Shirley Miller, 81, of Effingham SC, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2026.

Shirley was born Feb 22, 1944 in Florence County, daughter of the late Stiver Miller raised Grandmother Emma Lee Goins Miller.

We celebrate the life of our beloved Aunt Shirley. We rejoice in Aunt Shirley’s home going, because she has been reunited with her Savior, her grandmother, her father, sisters, along with many other family and friends who had gone before, whom she greatly adored & missed. Shirley was known to all those around her as Aunt Shirley. All who knew her, loved her. She had a true servant’s heart. Aunt Shirley loved helping anyone she could. She was known for her bringing joy and filling the room with laughter, no matter the circumstances. She loved to reminisce and share cherished memories with the younger generations. Her straightforwardness, humor, and ability to say what she meant and mean what she said was one of her best qualities that you couldn’t help but love about her.

Shirley was proudly employed and retired from Florence General Hospital & Carolinas Hospital System after more than 20 years of service.

Ms. Miller was preceded in death by her sisters Adele Miller Powell, Caroline Miller.

Surviving are her nephews whom she called her sons, Stiver (Mia) Powell and Austin (Reid) Powell of Effingham SC; niece, Sophie Lee of Effingham; birth daughter, Lisa Barfield Miles; extended family, Caleb Barfield, Kayelynn and Waylon Keef; nephew Al ( Kimberly ) Hill; sister-in-law, Carol Powell, who she shared a very special bond with; and sister, Jennifer (Grier) Ellis of Jacksonville, FL.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2026 at The Well PPHC in Pamplico, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm in the church with private burial to follow directed by Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home.
