Sherry Yamao Poston, 90, of Florence, SC passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.  Sherry was born in Mifuna-Cho, Japan, a daughter of the late Yaich and Momiko Yamao.   She worked as the plant manager at SEMCO, from the ground up until she retired, and previously worked at Electro-Motive Mfg. as a supervisor. She was a member of Dawsey UMC, where she served as board member and trustee.  Sherry was also a member of VFW, and the Senior Circle at Carolina's Hospital.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking and baking, spending time with her family, especially her great-grandson.

She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Harvey McDonald Poston, a son, Harvey Donald Poston and two granddaughters, Amanda Powell Watts and Ashley Cox.

Surviving are her daughter, Anne Dinsmore (Ernie), a grandson, Evan Cox, nephew, Edward (Evelyn) Ard, niece, Diane Cole, and special friends, Perry and Patsy Giordano and Fumi Hicks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Dawsey UMC.  Burial will follow at Prospect Church of Pamplico Cemetery directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers and staff of The Florence Place, to Amedisys Hospice Staff and to Pastor Jerry Fennell, for all the special care and love given to Ms. Poston.
