We mourn the passing of Shaun O'Shea, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and esteemed member of the Florence community, who departed this life on January 16, 2026. Born on March 7, 1950 in Bangor, Maine, a son of the late Gerald Doughty O'Shea and Frances Ayers O'Shea, Shaun lived a life marked by service, dedication, and remarkable achievements.
Shaun earned his Bachelor of Science degree with the highest distinction from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Shaun served honorably during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of E5 during his four years of service.
Following his military service, Shaun embarked on a successful career in accounting, working as a Cost Accountant for European Construction within General Electric. He was notably named on a U.S. patent for his significant contributions to the building of MRI machines, a field in which he later played a pivotal role by relocating to Florence to help establish the MRI Plant. After 25 years with General Electric, Shaun transitioned to serve as the Chief Financial Officer for Perfection Clutch in Darlington, where he continued to excel for over 20 years.
A devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Shaun actively engaged in numerous civic duties throughout his time in Florence. He was honored as the National Service to Youth for the Boys and Girls Club, served on the Board of the YMCA where he was instrumental in construction efforts. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan and his passion for sports led him to become a high school soccer referee and district coordinator, culminating in his recognition as the 2005 State Soccer Referee of the Year.
He is preceded in death in addition to his parents; by a brother, Michael O'Shea; and a nephew, Christian O'Shea.
Shaun is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Marie O'Shea; his sons, Kevin P. O'Shea, Brian P. (Amanda Tellez) O'Shea, Gregg D. (Gray Moore) Leavitt, Thomas C. (Kristen Chambers) Leavitt, James P.
