Sarah Atkinson Hayes, 90, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.  She was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Pliny Smith Atkinson and Lena Mae Gibson Atkinson.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Stephen Mitchell Hayes; a daughter, Deborah Ann Weavil; a grandchild, Shawn Blackmon; and eight brothers and sisters.

Sarah was a practicing Seventh Day Adventist and she loved the Lord.  She enjoyed her family, reading and birds.

Surviving are two sons, Rocky Hayes and Russell "Rusty" Tyler Hayes; a daughter, Sandra Swofford; seven grandchildren, Renee Hayes, Christopher "Chris" Hayes, Matthew Hayes, Christian Hayes, Deanna Hayes, Kimberly Brown and Michael McMurray; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Logan, Jake and Katie; four sisters, Jean Atkinson, Joyce Atkinson, Shirley Graham and Juanita Hyman; one brother, Bud Atkinson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hayes family.
