IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Delilah
Ward Barfield
July 11, 1952 – February 8, 2025
Sandra Delilah Ward Barfield, 72, of Scranton, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest Eugene and Louise Jones Ward. She is also predeceased by her soul mate & husband of 50 years Harold Edward Barfield, her baby brother Paul Ward, and her sisters Ellen Ward Tomlinson and Jean Thompson.
Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and especially a grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her NaNa and each and every one was her "favorite." She worked outside of the home before starting a family and then dedicated herself to raising her three children. After the youngest entered high school she re-joined the work force at Kelly's Cleaners in Lake City. After retirement she dedicated herself to help raising her grandchildren--they were her ultimate pride & joy. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, reading, watching her favorite TV shows & re-runs (Mama's Family, The Walking Dead, and The Golden Girls), and talking on the phone with family & friends. She spent time on her back porch watching her hummingbirds & blue jays while enjoying a hot cup of coffee (mostly cream) and a cigarette.
Surviving are her children, Jason Barfield (Heather), Jamie Suter (Brad) and Jared Barfield (Heather); seven grandchildren, Victoria and Gabrielle Barfield, Jaylee (TJ), Tyler, and Cheyenne Barfield, and Robert and Layla Suter; one brother, Wayne Ward (Deborah); a number of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Raylene Ward; nephew, Jeremy Ward (Simone) and special girls Carolyn Mordaunt and Cali Ward; special brother & sister, Bradley & Susie Barfield; special neighbors, Mary and Bobby Moore.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Sandra on February 22, 2025 at 3:00pm at Scranton Baptist Church located at 1730 S.Church Street, Scranton, SC. Family and close family friends will share a meal following the service at Sandra's house.
