Sandra Owens Newman, 82, of Smithfield, NC, formerly of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023.  She was born in Camden, SC, a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Rush Owens.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Faye Owens Haack (Michael) and a brother, R. Clark Owens, Jr. (Connie).  Sandra attended First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, NC and Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church in Florence, SC.

Surviving is her husband of 63 years, William R. "Bill" Newman, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Newman Yarborough (Edwin); granddaughter, Ashley Yarborough Luckett (Jason); great grandson, Alexander Jameson Luckett (Mira) and sister, Sybil Owens Lipford (Ralph).

A graveside service directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Entombment to follow.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home prior to the service at the mausoleum.
