Sampson "Sam" Bauman Smith, 87, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was born in Nashville, TN. Sam was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a founding member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church and was the former Director of Wednesday Night Live. He was retired from DuPont and his passion was building and flying remote controlled airplanes. Sam was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Deloris Eleanor Scholtz Smith; two sons, Michael (Cynthia) Smith of Aiken and David (Carol) Smith of Sardis; daughter, Pam (Steve) Moore of Florence; and four grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Allison Smith, Sara Smith and Mark Smith. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Cain-Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
