Ruby Friar Nance, 88, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, at her residence. Ruby was born in Timmonsville, SC, the daughter of the late Huey and Anna Morris Friar. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Claude E. Nance, whom passed away in 2012; 6 sisters, and 2 brothers. Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Julie Ann Nance of Darlington, SC, and Lisa (Richard) Canon of Florence, SC; a sister, Elizabeth (Ronald) Jones of Florence, SC; 4 grandchildren, Richard Canon, Angela McCarthy, Joseph Canon, and Sydney Canon; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00am in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with burial to follow, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 W. Cherokee Road, Florence, SC 29501.
