Roger Eugene Hewitt, 64, of Effingham, S.C., died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Florence, S.C., son of the late Southern William and Sue Baker Hewitt. He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, James Hewitt. Roger worked for many years in construction and was an all-around handyman. He loved to hunt and fish. He attended Southside School. Surviving are his children, two daughters, Angel Hewitt (Toby) Watson of Spartanburg, S.C.; Jo-Ann Hewitt (Barrett) Isgett of Pamplico, S.C.; two sons, Roger Eugene Hewitt, Jr. of Florence, S.C.; Shannon Todd (Crystal) Hewitt of Florence, S.C.; one brother, Buddy (Janet) Hewitt and two sisters, Janie Hewitt Langston of Deland, Florida and Sandra Hewitt (Sonny) Powell of Florence, S.C. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 A.M. prior to the service. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at McLeod Regional Medical Center who took such good care of him over the past couple of years.
