A memorial service for Roger Dennis Duttweiler, husband of Sawong Duttweiler, will be at 2:00PM, Sunday, August 3, 2008, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Pete Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. D., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. ] Mr. Duttweiler, 62, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, in a local hospital. He was born January 5, 1946, in Flushing, NY, to Ruth Newman Duttweiler, and the late Herbert Duttweiler. Mr. Duttweiler was a graduate of Davidson College with a BA in English Literature. He served in the US Army and Army Reserve for 32 years, retiring as Lt. Colonel. He taught school in Dover Plains, NY for 30 years. He then went to on to teach for three years in Bangkok, Thailand and came to Florence, SC in 2005 to teach English at Trinity Collegiate School. Surviving, in addition to his mother of Cornwall, NY and his wife of the home, are: daughter, Apple Promin of Clover, SC; grandson, Nolan Promin of Clover, SC; sister, Jean Walker of Avon Lake, OH, and brother, Robert Duttweiler of Amelia Island, FL.
