IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bingo"
Gary Summerford
March 24, 1963 – March 1, 2024
Robert Gary Summerford, affectionately known as "BINGO," entered Heaven on March 1, 2024. He was born on March 24, 1963 the son of Peggy Moore Summerford and the late Douglas M. Summerford in Florence, SC.
BINGO had Downs Syndrome, but Downs Syndrome did not have him! He attended Camp Courage and Red Brick School. He graduated from South Florence High School. BINGO worked for the lawn crew at Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs before retiring at 43 years of age. He prided himself on keeping his family's kitchen and yard immaculate. There was never a dish or a leaf out of place with BINGO around! BINGO loved to fish and always caught at least one every time he went.
It was known that he always had his Angels around him. He could be heard laughing, talking and even fussing with them. He said there were about 100 around him and when asked for a name of one of them, he would reply, "Morroco Reigns" There are many funny stories that support the existence of his Angels!
BINGO is survived by his mother, his brother Doug Summerford (Kay), his sister, Lisa Coleman and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their loving care and his sister, Lisa who has cared for him for over 10 years. The funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs.
Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Summerford family.
