Robert G. "Bob" Broyhill, 73, son of the late Paul G. Broyhill and Clara Evelyn Peoples Broyhill passed away at a local hospital on June 3, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Broyhill was also predeceased by his daughter, Laura Broyhill Creel and a granddaughter, Stephanie Ritch. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol M. Broyhill and three children, Paul R. (Donna) Broyhill of Richmond, VA, Lisa (Eddie) Broyhill Ard of Florence and Robert C. (Karen) Broyhill of Florence; grandchildren, Sarah Broyhill, Jennifer Pattillo, Tyler Ard, Kelley Ard, Brittany Broyhill, Gage Broyhill, Landon Broyhill, Michael Ritch and Shane Ritch; sister, Kathryn (Frank) Lucas of Tarboro, NC; brothers, Charles Thomas (Rite) Broyhill of Philadelphia, PA and Michael (Judi) Broyhill of Woodbridge, VA; great-grandchild, Caitlyn Pattillo and several other great-grandchildren; aunt, Virginia Peoples White of New York, NY; nephews, Tracy Lucas and Troy Lucas; and great-nephew, Landon Lucas. Mr. Broyhill was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Florence. He was born in Hopewell, VA and grew up in Arlington, VA graduating from Washington-Lee High School where he met his future wife. Bob was devoted to his parents and his family. He was a sought after auto mechanic and had his own business in Arlington, VA, Washington, DC, Richmond, VA and in Florence "Bob Broyhill's Foreign Car Service," on Irby Street. The family wishes to thank Dr. O. Sitti and Dr. Larry Grubb and all the great nurses and staff who gave Bob such wonderful care at Carolinas Hospital System. Visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2011 at Cain Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Florence Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
