Richard Lee "Dick" Loughary was born Dec 2,1949 in Beardstown, IL to the late Earl Eugene Loughary and Mary Helen Ketner. He was a 1969 graduate from Beardstown High School, lettering in track, baseball, football and basketball. He was also an avid bowler and excellent pool player. After high school, he married Dottie Landes with whom he shared a son.  In 1970, Dick joined the Army and served a term in Vietnam where his main focus was in communications. After the war, he was then divorced and moved to Florence,SC to marry Cindy Holston on May 12,1973. In the next 8 years they welcomed three children together.

Dick worked for many years in the tire industry and finally retired from International Knife and Saw. He enjoyed his retired years living with his children in Effingham.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Robert Loughary and his granddaughter Megan McKenzie.

Dick is survived by his children, Richard Lee Loughary Jr. "Dickie" (Becky) of Beardstown, IL; Mary Lee McKenzie (Charles) Thomas Kerry Loughary "TK" (Tracey) and Kelly Joanna Nettles (Scottie) all of Effingham, SC. His grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Loughary, Phillip McKenzie ( Raylen), Shane Kester, Dylan and Candice Matherly and Samantha, Kameron and Karson Nettles. Great-Grandchildren, Sophia, CJ and Parker Dunham and Blakelynn Poston.  A brother Kerry (Carol) Loughary from Rushville, IL and a niece and several nephews.

A private family graveside service at Florence National Cemetery with military honors January 6th, 2023 at 10am followed by a memorial service for family and friends to be held at Tabernacle UMC at 11:30am under the direction of Pastor Randy Calcutt with visitation following in the fellowship hall.
