Richard Alfred Johnson of Florence, S.C., passed away at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, S.C. on October 22, 2024, at the age of 75 years old. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Harry and Elizabeth Johnson of Florence, South Carolina and by his brothers, Brian Johnson and Donald Johnson. Surviving is his kind and loving wife of 40 years, Cynthia Johnson; his sons, Chrisopher Johnson (Jessica) and Ian Johnson (Liliana), both of Florence, S.C.; his grandsons, Shawn Johnson and Elijah Johnson, of Florence, S. C.; and his sister Jean Roney of Calabash, N.C.; along with many nieces and nephews. Richard was born on May 28, 1949, in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design. He was a well-known southeastern artist. He was known for his landscapes, wild life and still-life realistic paintings. He was published in the American Art Collection Magazine. The Johnson family would like to express sincere thanks for the care provided to Richard by the medical staff at McLeod Family Medicine Center, with a special thanks to Dr. Sarah Keiser and by Dr. Vipul Shah at the McLeod Hospice House. A celebration of life will be held on November 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the family home at 1109 Pinckney Avenue, Florence, S.C.
