Rex Allen Parnell, 59, of Edenton, N.C., formerly of Florence, S.C., died Monday, November 5, 2012 after a short illness. He was born in Hemingway, S.C., a son of the late Harvey Odis and Vilmae Port Parnell. Rex was an avid outdoorsman and loved his family and friends. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict. He was also active in the Albemarle Area Hunters Helping Kids program. He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Lunsford of Florence, S.C and Barbara Small of Effingham, S.C. and 2 nieces, 1 nephew (brother), 1 great-niece and 2 great nephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Florence National Cemetery with military honors. Rex will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
