Lamar, SC Reverend Roger Alan Peek, 49, of Lamar, SC, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, after a long illness. Rev. Peek was born in Charleston, SC, the son of Joyce Causey Peek and the late Floyd Thomas Peek. He was educated at North Greenville College, Liberty University, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and SLEBS. He also completed additional work through Moody Bible Institute, The Southern Baptist convention Seminary Extension Department, as well as Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. During his ministry, he served several churches and Christian organizations in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Since 1998, he had been an Independent Baptist Church Planter and had also served as President of Pioneer Baptist Theological Seminary since 2011. Rev. Peek is survived by his adoring wife of 23 years, Deborah Lane Peek, of the home, and his mother, Joyce Causey Strickland of Florence, and his beloved canine companions, Tazzy and Brittany. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Thomas Peek and two half-brothers in Tennessee, Tony Lester Peek and Tommy Peek. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 4:00 PM in the Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel, directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home.
