A graveside service for Mrs. Rachel Benton Taylor, widow of William Samuel "Billy" Taylor, Jr. will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday October 7, 2009 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 6, 2009 from 5-7 PM at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association 3225 Sunset Blvd. Suite 100 West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Taylor, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Florence, died October 3, 2009, in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital after an extended Illness. She was born April 10, 1925, in Sardis, SC, to the late Herbert Lester and Modena Truett Benton. Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her parents, as well as a brother, Don A Benton. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 55 years, the Joy Anderson Circle, and the Spiritual Guidance Sunday School Class. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Winthrop College, and a former teacher at Royall Elementary School. She also won the Teacher of the Year Award, and was a volunteer at Mcleod Hospital. Survivors include: daughters, Ann Taylor Cuza, and Nancy Bozard both of Lexington, SC; brother, Paul L. Benton of Chesterfield, SC; sister, Jean Benton Redpath of Yorktown, VA; Grandchildren, Kristen Cuza, Taylor Cuza, and Elizabeth (Allen) Graham all of Lexington, SC, and Brian (Krystal) Bozard of Goosecreek, SC; Great-Grandchildren, Noah Graham, and Juliana Graham both of Lexington, SC, and Megan Bozard of Goosecreek, SC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
