A funeral service for Rachel Vickery Hill, widow of Adam Edward Hill will be held at 1:00PM Saturday April 11, 2009 in Cain Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. L. Collins and Rev. Michael Mills officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church 915 Cherokee Road Florence, SC. 29501. Mrs. Hill, 77, died Thursday April 9, 2009 in a local nursing home. She was born January 8, 1932 in Martinsville, VA, daughter of James Lewis and Lottie Suzanne Hinson Vickery. She was also predeceased by a son, George Anthony Hill and a sister, Ruth Lewis. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Kannapolis, NC, where she was raised. She served as Office Manager for Southland Nursing Center for 28 years, retiring in 1996. She was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Surviving are son, Joseph E (Beth). Hill of Effingham; grandchildren, Ethan and Katherine Hill, sister, Doris (George) Pless of Landis, NC; sister-in-law, Kay (Lewis) Hartis of Charlotte.
