Patrick Harold Kershner, Sr., 73, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024.  He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, a son of the late Harold Bryce Kershner and the late Exie Foster Kershner.  Patrick graduated from South Florence High School in 1970.  He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 until 1974. He then attended and graduated from Florence Darlington Tech with an Electrical degree in 1976.  He worked at Dupont from 1976 until 2010 when he retired.  Patrick enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, squirrel hunting and then more fishing.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Watford Kershner; a daughter, Gena Kershner Sunderland; two sons, Patrick Kershner, Jr. (Angela Huggins) and Lee Kershner (Sarah Huggins Kershner); two grandchildren, Victoria Alexandra Parker and McSwaine "Mac" Elliott Kershner; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Kershner (Marcy Coffee Kershner) and Mark Foster Kershner (Beth Huff Kershner); two sisters, Trudy Lillian Watson and Gigi Kershner; five nephews, Hunter Kershner, Paul Foster Watson, Braeden Kershner (Julie Kershner), Chasen Kershner, and Josh Kershner; two nieces, Harriet Watson and Heather Anderson; sister-in-law, Teresa Viera; and her step-mother-in-law, Elaine Poston.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home with burial and military honors to follow at Florence National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the service at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
