Obituary

Patricia Rubel Edgerton, 86, of Florence, S.C. died Monday, May 7, 2012 at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Logan, Ohio a daughter of the late Roy E. and Virginia Stalsmith Ruble, who resided in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Patricia Edgerton was beloved by all who knew her. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class, and was an avid bridge player. She served as President of Jacksonville Women's Club, Stuart Women's Club, and on board with Huntington Women's Club in Savannah, GA. She was active in her churches, and was a friend to all. She lived in numerous cities, Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids, Michigan, in Toledo, Ohio, in Englewood, Stuart, Big Pine Key and Brooksville, FL before moving to Savannah, GA after the death of her first husband in 1995. She met and married Ralph Edgerton in Savannah shortly after her 80th birthday. She remained active, and her contagious spirit for life inspired many even after her diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. She is predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Stewart C. Rogers, of Brooksville, FL, her sister Marion McVey, of Illinois, her daughter, Deborah A. Soutenberg, of Powder Springs, GA, her granddaughter, Catherine E. Tipton, and great granddaughter, Lilly Anne Grace, both of Stuart, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Edgerton of Florence, S.C.; her sister, Imogene Baker of New Orleans, LA: one daughter, Pam Vawter of Stuart, FL; two step-sons, Neal Edgerton of Johns Island, S.C.; Michael Edgerton of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two step-daughters, Ann Braswell and Peggy Edgerton, both of Charleston, S.C.; her grandchildren, Dan Parks of Samford, FL; Carolynn Strom, of Stuart, FL; Lee and Nick Soutenberg of Powder Springs, GA; six great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, and/or Isle of Hope Methodist Church of Savannah, Ga.. No flowers please.
