Obituary

A memorial service for Norman Joseph Carr, husband of Shirley P. Carr will be at 11:00AM, Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Malambri officiating. Internment with Fire Department and Military Honors will follow at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorials may be made to Carolinas Hospice, PO Box 100550, Florence, SC 29501. Mr. Carr, 78, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in a local hospital. He was born November 30, 1929, in Warwick, NY, to the late Raymond L. and Josephine Antonio Carr. Norm was the owner of Motor & Stoker Plumbing & Heating, Warwick, NY. He was a Volunteer Fireman and later became Fire Chief of the Warwick, NY Fire Department. Additionally, he was an EMT with the Warwick Ambulance Corps. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member Warwick VFW Post 4662. After moving to Florence, Norm became a volunteer with McLeod Hospital and Manna House. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Spiritual Guidance SS Class, served as a Greeter and was active with the Methodist Men.. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: sons, Kenneth (Lois) J. Carr of Florence and Steven D. Carr of Middleton, NY; sisters, Margaret Leinweber of Allentown, PA and Iva Blanchard of Chapel Hill, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.
