Obituary

Nina Louise Gaines Watt, 92 of Florence, S.C., died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. Louise was born December 16, 1919, to James Thomas and Nina Graham Gaines in Anniston, AL. She is survived by Harold Wilson Watt, her devoted husband of 53 years. She was a loving mother to her daughter Willa Burdette and son-in-law Kenny and son Robert Watt and daughter-in-law Jenny of Franklin, TN. She is also survived by grandchildren Ashley Burdette Padgett (Edwin), Bradley Burdette, and Chad and Lauren Watt, as well as great-granddaughters Kate, Elsie Morrah, and Frances. Her years at Huntington College gave her great pleasure and happy memories. An avid bridge player, Louise made many friends in Anniston, AL; Martinsville, VA; Charleston, SC; and Charlotte, NC. She was a wonderful teller of stories and regaled her family with funny narratives that kept them laughing and connected to their past. Louise and Harold moved to the Methodist Manor in 2000. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. A wonderful cook, a loyal friend, and a protective nurturer of her family, Louise will be missed deeply by her family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13 in the Mary Alice Ingram Chapel at the Methodist Manor with burial at noon at Florence National Cemetery directed by Cain Funeral Home.
