Nicole Marie Velez, 37, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023.  Nicole was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of  Agustin Joel Mercado and Carmen Antonia Mercado Velez.  She loved all animals and being a caregiver to others.

Surviving are her father, Agustin Joel (Debbie) Mercado and her mother, Carmen Antonia Mercado Velez, a son, Dylan Cole Mercado, a brother, Juan Joel (Amber) Mercado, a niece, Mila Mercado, a nephew, Maddox Mercado and an uncle, Antonio Luis (Mindy) Mercado.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society.
