Nancy Matthews Benton, 81, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Mrs. Benton was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Marion Matthews and Louise Willis Matthews. She was a loyal member of Evergreen Baptist Church and loved to travel with her loving husband, Gilbert. Nancy retired from the Department of Juvenile Justice as a counselor for at risk youth in the justice system.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert Lee Benton; sister, Margaret Ann Green; and grandson, Scott Estep.

Surviving are her step-daughters, Lynn Benton (David) Moore, Vicki Benton, and Sherry Benton; grandchildren, Jessica (Joseph) Quick, Amanda Vause, Kelly Vause, Chris Porta, Clay Porta, Chase (Melanie) Estep; Harper Quick, Holdyn Quick, and Hayes Quick; nephew, Matt Cook; her poodle, Baby Bella; and her loving extended family.

Memorials may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church to help fund a new van, 6316 Pamplico Highway, Effingham, SC 29541.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 19, 2025 at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following in the family life center of the church.
