In Loving Memory of Myrna Virginia Altman Cox

Myrna Virginia Altman Cox, age 87 years old, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 with her loving family and friends by her side. Myrna was the cherished wife of Samuel “Sammy” Walton Cox of Florence for 63 years, until his passing on February 9, 2020. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Born to Mr. And Mrs. Richard Dale Altman, who both predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister, Jackie Altman Green.

Myrna was also the proud mother of Richard “Ricky” Samuel Cox (Karen), Wendy Dianne Cox (Timothy), and Darral Cox (Gwen). Her legacy continues through her loving family, which includes her grandchildren: Justin Cox (Shandi), Brannon Turbeville, Christopher Cox (Robin), Christy Robinson (Michael), Danielle Evans (Lance), Hunter Cox, Sterling Turbeville, and Logan Miller (Michael), as well as 18 great-grandchildren who adored their "Grandma"

Myrna was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Johnsonville, SC. Her faith guided her and was an inspiration to many. Alongside her husband, she played a vital role in building and running several successful businesses, most notably Metal Builders of Florence, Inc.

Celebrated for her talent and warmth, Myrna was also a successful cosmetologist for decades, using her skills to bring joy and confidence to those around her. Her passions included spending time with family, enjoying her beach house, and creating cherished memories at the lake. She was known for her kindness, love for others, and unwavering support.

Myrna will be remembered not only for her contributions but also for her nurturing spirit and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of so many. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence, South Carolina on Tuesday December 9th, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at 1pm prior to the service. Graveside services will immediately follow.
