A graveside service for Mrs. Mildred Newsome Byrd, widow of Henry P.Byrd, will be at 4PM, Tuesday October 20, 2009, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Marvin Lynch and Rev. Lee Phillips. Visitation will be held Monday, 6-8PM at Cain Funeral Home. Mrs. Byrd, 85, died October 17, 2009, in a local healthcare facility after a brief illness. She was born January 2, 1924, in Marshville, NC, to the late Jonah Fletcher and Dora Thomas Newsome. She was preceeded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Evelyn Lewis, and brother, Paul Newsome. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include: sons, Randy (Ann) Byrd of Dillon, and Robert (Debra) Byrd of Florence; grandchildren, Kimberly (Tommy) Drew, and Arlene (Jeff) Berry; great-grandchildren, Ryan Drew, Justin Drew, Haven Berry, and T.J.
