IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael W.
Lloyd
September 6, 1946 – July 29, 2010
After a truly courageous battle with cancer, "Mikey" went to be with her Lord and all of his creatures on Thursday, July 29, 2010. Her cremains will be interred during a separate "Celebration of Life" to be held at her residence on September 6, 2010, with arrangements to be announced at a later date. A visitation will be at Cain Funeral Home on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 6:00-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Florence Humane Society, PO Box 4808, Florence, SC 29502, ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20077, McLeod Hospice House or McLeod Cancer Center, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502-0552. She was born in Florence, SC on September 6, 1946, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Wilder Babb and Thomas Wilder. Mikey was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Tonya M. Gregory Copeland and her other "children" Smokey, Magic, and Lucky. Mikey was an avid gardener. She thoroughly enjoyed her plants and flowers and spent endless hours toiling in her yard. She was a wonderfully creative person and was quite the talented hobbyist. She worked as a Veterinary Assistant for many years where she developed her love and compassion for the welfare of animals. She rescued and raised many injured and homeless animals and house pets throughout the years and showered them with the care and devotion they deserved. She vigilantly supported both the Humane Society and the ASPCA and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She never met a stranger and never let you say goodbye without a big hug. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Alton Odell Lloyd; her daughters, Tina Jackson and her husband Wayne, and T. J. Gregory and her partner, C. J. Nyland; and her grandson Jerry E. "Jay" Copeland, Jr., all of Florence; stepsons, Donnie Lloyd and his wife, Marie, along with their children Brooke, John, and Connor of Glen Allen, Virginia and Marc Lloyd and child Cameron Allen of Florence; sister, Ann W. Stone of Hemingway, whom she adored, and several other family members and dear friends, including caregivers, Elizabeth "Lib" Rogers, Bobbie Brumett, and Lisa Kaul, as well as her friend Barry Bohon. The family would like to thank everyone who offered their love and support during this difficult time and would like to also give recognition to the exceptional Doctors, Nurses, and Staff members of the McLeod Cancer Center and the McLeod Hospice House, with special mention of Dr. Shah and the Nurses and Techs that attended to her, and our, every need. We thank you so very much!
