Meredith M. Ham, 96, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Wallace Herbert Meng and Lida Taylor Meng. She is predeceased by her husband, Henry H. Ham, Sr., and her sister, Dell Stamps. Mrs. Ham was a graduate of Columbia College and taught elementary school for 30 years, first at Harllee Elementary and then at Delmae Elementary. She was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church since 1957 and was a member of the Jimmy McNair Sunday School Class. She served on many committees at the church. She also served with Meals on Wheels until she was well into her 80's. She loved fishing, cooking and was a wonderful seamstress. Mrs. Ham loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Henry H. (Dixie) Ham, Jr.; her daughter, Jennie (Bob) Bickerton; six grandchildren, Kevin (Emily) Ham, Sandi (Joe) Schofield, Kelly (Tim) Proffitt, Mandy (Chris) Lipsett, Lindsay (Dom) Trimarchi and Andrew Bickerton; twelve great-grandchildren, Everett and Lainey Ham, Lauren, David and Will Schofield, Madison, Matthew, Myles and Mason Proffitt, and Keaton, Zander and Harper Lipsett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Paul UMC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church prior to the service in the Family Life Center. The family wants to give a special thank you to Dr. Richard Mohr and his staff, the staff at Willow Trace and Price Hall at the Presbyterian Communities and the McLeod Hospice staff for the special care and compassion given to Mrs. Ham under their care.
