Melissa Davis Ellington, 44, of Columbia, SC, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022.  She was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Randall L. Davis and the late Kathryn Capps Hodge.  Melissa was a graduate of South Florence High School, Class of 1996.  She attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with her nursing degree and almost completing her thesis for her Masters' Degree.  She worked at many different hospitals in Columbia and most recently with an agency as a travelling nurse.

Melissa is survived by her children, Jamison Ellington and Mary Katherine Ellington; brother, Gregory L. Davis; step-brother, Joshua S. Hodge; her aunt, Brenda C. Haselden; and a nephew, Rian O. Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cain Calcutt Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses, or to a charity of one's choice.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
