A funeral service for Maxine McLaughlin Turnage will be at 4:00PM Tuesday April 7, 2009 in John Calvin Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. John Parks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 pm Monday April 6 at Cain Funeral Home. Mrs. Turnage, 73 died Sunday April 5, 2009 in Kingstree. She was born, December 16, 1935 in Florence County to the late Mack Fadden and Gladys Hatchell McLaughlin, Jr. She taught English and Spanish and later was a substitute teacher for Florence School District One for 39 1/2 years, retiring October 2007. Mrs. Turnage was a member John Calvin Presbyterian Church, Effingham Ruritan Club, Farm Bureau, the Retired Teachers Association and The Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are son, Dennis Le'Mac (Dawn) Turnage of Chatsworth, GA, grandchildren, Ashley (Bill) Brewer and Chris and Ryan Turnage, great grandchild Ivy Brewer, and long time companion, Weston Weldon of Florence.
