A funeral service for Maudie King Mahan, wife of Clarence E. Mahan, will be at 3:00PM, Sunday, January 25, 2009, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Marvin Lynch and Rev. Laneir Singleton. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502-0551 or www.mcleodfoundation.org. Mrs. Mahan, 87, of Florence, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009, in McLeod Hospice House. She was born February 26, 1921, in Wann, OK, to the late Charles F. and Alberta Creameans King. She was also predeceased by seven brothers and four sisters. Lovingly remembered by many friends as Mrs. Maudie and Mr. Clarence, they were the owners of Village Antiques Shoppe of Effingham, until their retirement in 1983. They spent the last 30 years traveling all 50 states and occasionally doing antique shows throughout, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh and Columbia. They moved back to Florence in 1997 to be near their daughters. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 69 years, are: daughters, Patricia (Jerry) Vinson and Constance (Randolph) Butler both of Florence; six grandsons, Jay (Flo) Vinson, Mark (Janice) Vinson, Mark (Amanda) Butler all of Florence, Andrew Vinson of Charlotte, Kip (Mary) Murphy of Chapin, SC, and Mike (Christine) Murphy of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter, Annette Butler of Florence; great-grand children, Carol Peeler, Hunter Vinson, Will Vinson and Carl Butler all of Florence, and Meredith and Mason Murphy of Chapin, SC.
