Mathew J. Mageau, Jr., 61, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on February 23, 2026. Born on March 25, 1964, in Hartford, Connecticut, Mathew was the son of the late Jacqueline Eldred and Mathew Mageau.

Mathew grew up in Vermont and attended Lamoille Union High School. He went on to build a career as a skilled roofer and contractor, dedicating many years to his trade. His work reflected his dedication and craftsmanship, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with and for. Mathew was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

He is survived by his son, Mathew J. Mageau III; his brother, Tyler Eldred; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends who will remember him fondly. Mathew was predeceased by his brother Joseph Mageau.
