Mary Melvadean Rich, 89, of Effingham, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Mrs. Rich was born in Marion County, SC a daughter of the late Ethel Lee Smithy Turner and Alex Turner.  She was a talented seamstress having retired from Haynes/Leggs Hosiery, a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Marion and loved dogs and cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, James E. Rich; brothers, James Lawrence Turner and Johnny Mack Turner; and sister, Vivian Lee Dimmery; brothers-in-law, Leroy Dimmery, James Grooms, and Bill Brewer; sister-in-law, Sylvia Turner.

Surviving are her son, Andrew Lawrence (Angela) LeGette; grandchildren, Andrew H. (Ashley) LeGette and Ashley (Mark) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Trey Stevens, Adeline Wallace, Harper Johnson, Harrison LeGette, and Jesse Wallace; sisters, Emma Jean Grooms, Joyce (Aaron) Sweatman, Sara Lee Brewer, and Marie (Jesse) Myers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Effingham Church of God with the service to follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery in Marion, SC directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
