Mary Heyward Smith, dearly loved daughter of Kimrey and Les Smith, was born still into this world on September 9th, 2025. She weighed 8 pounds and 1 ounce, was 20 inches long and had a head full of brunette hair.

Mary Heyward only knew what it felt like to be loved unconditionally. She leaves behind a legacy of pure, unconditional, and everlasting love, that will live on in the hearts of all who waited for her, prayed for her, and will always remember her.

In addition to her parents, she will be carried in the hearts of her maternal grandparents Leslie and Brian Shaffer; paternal grandparents Melanie and Michael Smith; uncle Kaiden Shaffer; aunts Kellyn Shaffer and Hannah (Derrick) Grimsley; cousin Walker Grimsley; and great-grandparents Sylvia Miller and Judy and Franklin McKenzie along with countless extended family members and dear friends who mourn her earthly absence and rejoice in the gift of her life.

We take comfort in knowing Mary Heyward was welcomed into Heaven by her namesakes, great-grandparents Mary Smith and Heyward Miller.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the McLeod Labor and Delivery staff for the compassion and tenderness shown to Mary Heyward and her family. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
